BUENOS AIRES NEIGHBORHOODS

Buenos Aires is divided into barrios, which means neighborhoods. Each one of them has a rich and important story that identifies the spirit and characteristics of its citizens.

The barrios, neighborhoods, you must visit in Buenos Aires are:

Recoleta: Luxurious and historic Buenos Aires neighborhood full of residences where wealthy and upper class families live.The Avenida Alvear and the Recoleta Cemetery (the final resting place of Evita) are the most defining feautures of this neighboorhood.


Montserrat: located at the south of the metropolis. The Plaza de Mayo, the Casa Rosada (the government seat), as well as major distinctive national buildings, are located in this area.


San Telmo: A southern Buenos Aires neighborhood. It is famous for its antiques shops, outing activities during the week-ends, tango performers and an intense tourism activity. Read more


La Boca: The barrio of the Buenos Aires port. It has always been the door and first home for all immigrants floods. It maintains its special profile and is mainly visited by tourists on Sundays when you may enjoy tango dancers and singers exhibitions. If you are a tango fan, you can also take open lessons.


Palermo: is a very extended surface within the Buenos Aires city and has recently been divided into: Palermo Chico: where you’ll find all French residences surrounded by large gardens. Most of them became European embassies. Bosques de Palermo (Gardens of Palermo): an open area, full of lakes, promenades, rest areas and exuberant trees. Palermo Viejo, Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood, a bohemian, sophisticated, exclusive design area, frequented by local and foreign visitors. Plenty of fashionable restaurants and crowded in the evening.


Puerto Madero:
This is the newest and most modern neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The recycled old docks were the harbour warehouses and are currently luxury apartments. Most fashionable restaurants and international companies have settled in Puerto Madero during the last decade.
