Buenos Aires

Welcome to one of the most beautiful cities of the world.

Just to contribute to your well being during your stay in Buenos Aires Habitat apartments, please take the time to see below some Buenos Aires travel Tips

We highly recommend keeping passports, air tickets and cash in your apartment.

Remember that the legal currency is the Peso ($), which maintains a 3 to 1 exchange rate with the United States Dollar. This is to say $3= US$1
10% of the amounts of the checks are usually left as tip in cafeterias and restaurants. Doormen, porters, and ushers in cinemas and theatres are also generally tipped.

Vaccination is not necessary to visit Buenos Aires. However, in case of emergency, public hospitals are available for tourists and, have a 24-hour emergency service free. The ambulance emergency service (SAME) has no charge as well.

Try not to walk on lonely streets or parks at night. We suggest having special care in La Boca neighborhood, where there have been some thefts in the recent past near Caminito street, San Telmo and the financial district.

There is a very demanding network of public transportation all over Buenos Aires.

Taxis, including radiocabs, are yellow and black. They have a red light in the front window to announce their availability. The rates are reasonable and they have a good inflow, except for the rash hours.
However, since taking a taxi could take some risks we recommend to use a radio taxi or remise ( semiprivate licensed cab).

Some words of Spanish and some cash not larger than Ar$10 will help you taking a radio taxi.
A remise is an alternative transportation. Keep in mind they don’t have meters, so you should agree on a rate before taking the service. Punctuality is not as guaranteed as with taxis.
Buses called “Colectivos ”run a current urban fare of Ar$0.75. Remember to take some coins with you so as to pay.

Subways, or as Argentinians call them “ Subte.” have a token or “ cospel” rate of AR$0.70. Be aware that there are not multitrip passes in Buenos Aires.
