Survey Reveals Houses are Top Choice for Homes

Buenos Aires is a capital city that is dominated by high-rise apartment blocks. The skyline is dominated by apartment buildings offering apartment homes in a variety of styles and from different eras. However, the trend is changing and houses are now becoming more sought after than ever. According to official statistics 65,3 % of Buenos Aires inhabitants live in apartments and yet, despite this, a new survey has revealed that 60% of Argentines would rather live in a house.

The Buenos Aires real estate market does offer some varied options if you’re looking for a house. In the Argentinean capital city you’ll come across; PH houses (homes that are in horizontal rows and share an entrance), house-style apartments that cover multiple floors and houses that range from mansions to cottages. Houses are highly sought after as they offer autonomy. Homeowners will also avoid costly maintenance expenses by purchasing a house instead of an apartment. The expenses that are usually charged in apartment blocks are usually extortionate and rates keep increasing ahead of official inflation. Other benefits of living in a home include: increased privacy, less noise disturbances and more freedom.

One of the downfalls of living in a home is security. In Argentina, and in particular Buenos Aires, security is a major problem that worries families and encourages the widespread use of beefy home security. Buenos Aires Apartment blocks offer security and peace of mind built in; hence the high maintenance expenses. Homes do not, however, offer the same level of security and families are more vulnerable and open to robberies and burglaries. The news stories in Argentina are quite shocking and rife with stories of violent attacks on homes so it’s no wonder that 40% of Argentineans would rather not live in houses.

Buenos Aires Houses are most beneficial to young families as they are usually blessed with precious outdoor spaces where children and pets can play and the home can be a stress-free space. Outdoor spaces are a precious commodity in Buenos Aires where there is little space for such luxuries. Some people have a clear idea of their preference for a home, but 16 % of the survey’s participating stated that living in a house or apartment would be the same and that they had no preference. Living in a house is a way to totally own your property and completely control the land that it’s constructed on. Nonetheless, regardless of how a buyer may want to live in a house instead of apartment, the issue remains that houses are less affordable and out of reach of most buyers.
