Mendoza real estate projects
Mendoza is the wine capital of Argentina. It is the cradle of Malbec wine, the quintessential Argentinean tipple that has been attracting international attention in the wine world and beyond. Now this area in the northwest of Argentina is becoming a hotspot for multimillion dollar real estate investments and developments.
The famous Mendozan ‘brand’ is being used to unify real estate and the wine industry. Developers are working on projects that ‘marry’ wine leisure and tourism with other activities such as golfing and polo. Vineyards are increasingly being encroached on to build large, high-end Mendoza real estate projects.

Developers are working on projects that ‘marry’ wine leisure and tourism with other activities such as golfing and polo. One Mendoza real estate mega-project that is underway is the Santa María de los Andes development: a gated community and country club that combines wine with country living. The development is part of the Fiducia Capital Group and covers a huge 819 hectare area. One hectare in this sought after location will set you back $ 98,000 US dollars and will have expenses of around $ 6,000 US dollars per year. The exclusive vineyard will occupy 550 hectares of the whole complex, with investors able to buy plots and enjoy the fruits of their labor. The rest of the development will be divided up accordingly: 120 hectares will form a nature reserve; 22 for a world class hotel complex complete with spa facilities; 5.5 hectares for the construction of 40 condominiums. The Santa María development is located in Luján de Cuyo, a quiet town nestled at the foot of the Andes mountain range.
The winery will be officially open for use in 2014 after the vineyard’s grapes and vines have had time to mature. Despite the wait for wine, 140 of the Santa María plots have been sold, with foreign investors purchasing 40% and 60% bought by Argentines. Buyers in this kind of Mendoza real estate project have the opportunity to choose their own grape variety knowing that the vineyard will nurture and prepare the wine to perfection. The vineyard is taken care of by the famous Italian wine expert Alberto Antonini.
Another similar project is the Tupungato Winelands in the Valle de Uco just 80 km from Mendoza city. The Belgian group Burco América invested in this project with a budget of $ 45 million US bills. Tupungato Winelands is a luxurious leisure complex that boasts two polo courts, an eighteen hole golf course, a five-star lodge, apartment complex and is of course complete with a boutique vineyard. These types of properties are catching the eye of investors and buyers looking for a thoughtful and unusual investment. Combining wine and real estate in Mendoza is a winning combination.
