BUENOS AIRES TRAVEL ARGENTINA

Getting to know Buenos Aires: Let us give you some important and basic information to feel just like home.

Spanish is the official language in Argentina. Its population is, at present, 39 million.

Buenos Aires is more than the main city and capital of Argentina. It is an attractive and elegant city that you can compare to Paris, Rome or Madrid.

Founded in 1580 by the Spanish conquerors, Buenos Aires is on the Rio de la Plata. Its strategic location has always been the door to different immigrations, specially Spanish and Italian.

In terms of layout, Buenos Aires was built following a European style. This obvious Spanish, French or Italian heritage can be appreciated along its wide boulevards, parks, luxurious residences, monuments and public buildings.

The city is divided into barrios, which means neighborhoods. Each one of them has a rich and important story that identifies the spirit and characteristics of its citizens.

To connect between different neighborhoods you can take the subway, called the subte,(five lines in B.A.), a bus ( almost 140 lines of different buses), a taxi (we recommend to call always a Radio Taxi),and, of course, on foot. Car rental is not recommended since the traffic is generally crowded, especially during rush hours.

The climate is mild. Best time to visit Buenos Aires is from September to May but winter months, like June, July or August are also pleasant.

The cultural activity is very rich in Buenos Aires since many different cultures influenced its society.

One of the most useful ways of getting to admire this cultural life is by making a visit to the different museums, libraries, art exhibitions, concerts and even catholic churches and cemeteries.

The Teatro Colón is considered one of the most important scenarios in the world. Ballet, opera and even popular spectacles are live on stage. Other theatres, movies, tango shows, café concerts etc. are additional attractions for local and foreign visitors.

Accommodation in Buenos Aires may vary from the cheapest hotels to luxurious 5 star hotels or apartments for a short period rental.

Buenos Aires is famous for their variety of food. You will be able to taste its famous “Bife” (steak) or every kind of international, regional or ethnic food, in all restaurants and the typical cafes, where the porteños (citizens of Buenos Aires) use to meet.

The barrios, neighborhoods, you must visit in Buenos Aires are:
